I seriously can’t believe there are only ten days until Christmas! Where did this year go? Feels like I say that every year. Nevertheless, as 2014 winds down I’m starting to get really excited about my 2015 running goals. This year was huge for me and saw more PBs including my first ultra marathon, but 2015 is going to top it. Here’s what I have coming up.
Now that fall is officially here, I’d like to talk a little bit about my vacation from running this past summer. 2014 was very different in the fact that my training went into overtime, culminating in my first 50k ultra marathon. After what seemed like an endless training cycle, I decided to give my body a break and take a little vacation from running. Not a permanent vacation mind you, just time to let my body fully recover from the two years of non-stop running. I’ve still been running here and there, just not part of a structured training schedule. Perhaps a better way to phrase it would be a vacation from training. There were a few things that let to my decision to cut back, the first (and most important) being running stopped being fun for me.
Wow, this year has really flown by. I can’t believe it’s mid-December already! It seems like only yesterday I was running in shorts and now I’m wearing three layers and shovelling the driveway. Anyway, as we get ready to say good-bye to 2013, I’d like to look ahead and share my 2014 race goals. Continue reading
What an incredible year 2013 has been for running. I’ve run further, had more fun and set PB’s at all three of my races. Tomorrow I’ll be aiming for another PB at the 2013 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon – my fourth and final race of the year. I feel really confident going into this race and right now I’m really anxious to get going. Continue reading
Next Sunday, May 5th, I’m going to be running the Goodlife Fitness 2013 Toronto Marathon. This will be my second full marathon and my third and final race of the spring. I am incredibly happy with the way my marathon training has been going this time around. I’ve done a lot of things differently this year, but I believe following Marathon Training Plan A from Jack Daniels’ Running Formula-2nd Edition has had the most impact. By following this program closely I’ve set two new PRs in the last two months: half marathon (1:41 at Chilly) and 30k (2:32 ATB). With no false modesty, this race should make it a perfect 3/3. I’ve come up with three goals for the race, all of which I believe are very attainable. Continue reading
This Sunday I’m going to be running the 2013 Chilly Half Marathon, my first race of the season! My marathon training has really ramped up over the past three months so I’m really anxious to get out on the course and see how it goes. I’ve come up with three pretty realistic goals for the race.
